Associate Director/Director, Alliance Management – Princeton, NJ


  • Lead Slayback cross-functional team to define the scope of projects, and request and assess competing proposals from CDMOs;
  • Identify and select contract manufacturing and packaging sites for the company’s products by coordinating and determining suitability of site through technical & business evaluation. Ensure selection of contract organizations facilitates timely project execution;
  • Negotiate and finalize development/tech transfer agreements, master services, and/or supply agreements with CMO partners;
  • Collaborate with Slayback’s sourcing team to build a strategic API supplier base by identifying and recommending API suppliers for Slayback’s portfolio based on alignment with Slayback’s supply, pricing and competitiveness requirements;
  • Collaborate with functional heads to proactively identify and anticipate project risks and develop resolution plans. Escalate issues to senior management as needed to keep projects moving and on-time.  Proactively seek opportunities to expedite timelines;
  • Own partnership relationships. Work with the Head of Alliance Management to establish, cultivate, and maintain a strong relationship with partner companies.  Build trust.  Ensure relationships are managed across the governance framework including interactions with the senior leaders of the partners to ensure the relationships deliver value to Slayback long-term;
  • Lead, manage, and execute the operationalization of external strategic alliances, including leading/coordinating internal kick-offs, joint kick-offs, Joint Steering Committees, partner feedback mechanisms, and plan for relationship engagement at senior levels;
  • Manage and identify external partner obligations and work with partners and Slayback Finance to meet contractual obligations (eg milestone payments, royalties, etc.);
  • Work with key stakeholders within Slayback and CMO partners to understand critical issues, timelines, risks, and other key project information and also ensure Slayback management is regularly updated and aware of all critical information related to the project;
  • Facilitate an effective and open communication platform to ensure Slayback’s alliance partners are supplied with the appropriate and timely support required to facilitate the program deliverables;
  • Participate in trade shows and conferences to identify manufacturers/suppliers of new API/pharmaceutical products and to maintain relationships with existing suppliers and CMOs;
  • Assist the VP of Business Development with various initiatives, as needed;

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in chemistry, pharmacy, business administration, or related field


  • Five to ten years of pharmaceutical company experience, ideally in a project management or alliance management role; or in a combination of formulation development/manufacturing and project management or alliance management roles


  • Strong business and organizational understanding of contracting and legal aspects


  • Strong communication and negotiation skills


  • High-level understanding of pharmaceutical development, manufacturing processes, and FDA regulatory and compliance requirements


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience utilizing tools such as IMS/IQVIA, IPD Analytics, Dailymed, FDA databases is strongly preferred.


  • API sourcing experience
